Well, I definitely appreciate your opinion on what you think is funny or not. However my opinion is in complete contrast of yours. Overall, I think Saturday Night Live have been funny for a long time. I think that's mainly due to the type of political humor that shoved in your face over and over again. Yes, there are some funny moments at times, but they are small in comparison to the previous decades. Sorry, I just don't have the same opinion as you. And I think that's okay.

As someone who is in their started watching SNL in 2018, going between like 2004 and current episodes, I don’t have the problem you’re describing except with a few viral videos (I do have this problem with certain youtubers form like 2010), but I loved this video because it was a nice little condensed history that really put the whole show into perspective. I tried to watch some classic 70s episodes but they were so sexist it was kind of hard for me. I like watching the older political sketches because i like to see how certain events were seen at the time, not really because they’re funny. Great video! I really enjoyed your takes and your nuance!

Maybe we all think the best cast was those who were on when we were 12 or so. For me this was around 1987...Hartman, Nealon, Carvey, Jackson, Hooks, Miller, Lovitz, etc. Maybe it's just the novelty of being allowed to stay up past midnight for the first time that adds to the enjoyment at that age.

I'm sorry but in my opinion Tina Fey was never funny in anything she did whether it was on Saturday Night Live movies or TV shows. Just like Kevin Hart Tina Fey is not funny at all. They both are horrible comedians and more horrible as actors. In my opinion anytime any of Kevin Hart's movies or remotely good is when he is paired up with a cast of Good Comedians and actors and he's able to play off of them. But however any movie where there's only him as a lead or Serna lead with another actor his performance either brings down the movie or his co-host actually helps lift up his performance. Heck the movie not easily broken I was cringing almost every time he was in any scene. Even though I love the movie Kevin Hart was awful in it. The only set of movies that I like his character was Jumanji. Now when it comes to Tina Fey there's not one movie that I seen of hers that I liked.

SNL is simply not funny. I get baffled why people in the audience even laugh. horrible skits, jokes and puns. I don't understand what people see. it's cringey and I have not seen a skit that actually made me smile let alone laugh. and it's not for the lack of wanting to. I would love to watch a good skit show. I miss mad tv and key and Peele. they also had their bad moments, but no where near as lame as SNL.

I can't even watch the last few years of SNL.Though every old skit from seasons past weren't HRs the writing and casts were definitely superior. It's like comparing music from different eras. Most of the great ideas have been used to death and now nothing's shocking, much of today's musical inroads have been due to technology advances in production.I believe SNLs time has past it's funny quotient. They need a gigantic goodbye extravaganza.

  101. ChromeDestiny

I like the early 80's years, even the Whiners. It was more than Eddie Murphy for me, Julia Dreyfus was great too and the Crystal/ Short/ Shearer season had great filmed sequences but the late 80's early 90's year were far better, I agree that was a real peak. The early seasons have some interest for me cause I'm a fan of Bill Murray, Steve Martin who was a borderline cast member and Frank Zappa who guested twice in the early years. Most people hate the episode that Zappa hosted but I think it's great because of his "I don't give a shit" attitude through the whole episode. I disagree completely about TV Funhouse, I love those. My favourite of the SNL DVDs I have are the best of TV Funhouse and the best of the fake commercials.
